This is also one of the busiest cultural weekends of autumn: Bucharest celebrates its birthday, three museums come together on Kiseleff, the Muzica la Muzeu programme draws to a close, and Suțu Palace opens a new exhibition.

Spanish Cinema, Music and Exhibitions in the Most Beautiful Garden on Calea Victoriei
On September 19 and 20 we meet in the garden of Casa Filipescu-Cesianu at the Bucharest Municipality Museum for two afternoons of open-air Spanish Cinema, concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and tours of the Museum of Ages. On Saturday we watch "Amarga Navidad", Pedro Almodóvar's new film, and on Sunday "Los domingos / Sundays", by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa. Before the film we have Trio Misfits and We Singing Colors, and for the guided tours through "300 Years of Daily Life" you can still reserve your place.

End of the Muzica la Muzeu Programme: Viorica Cortez at 90
After two weeks of music entering Bucharest's museums, the "Music at the Museum" programme reaches its final gathering of the edition on September 19. The National Museum of Romanian History opens the anniversary exhibition "Viorica Cortez 90", with performance posters, photographs, costumes, honours, personal objects, letters, and recordings from the mezzo-soprano's international career. A commemorative philatelic envelope will also be launched at the event.

A Full Weekend for the Village Museum, at 120 Years
The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant celebrates its 120th anniversary with exhibitions, a fair, workshops, music, and film. The programme includes the exhibition "REZIDENT", the fair "100 Romanian Traditions", the project "The Triangle of Museums. Earth. Life. People." and the Bucharest Feminist Film Festival. Cinema Muzeul Țăranului also hosts screenings from the Bucharest International Film Festival from September 18.

The Brâncoveanus Return to Suțu Palace through Portraits and Family Stories
A new exhibition opened on Bucharest Days traces the Brâncoveanu family and the way their image, prestige, and memory were passed down through the generations. "The Brâncoveanus: Power and Legacy" brings together portraits from the Bucharest Municipality Museum Collection and the stories behind them.

From Tintoretto to Bassano: An Hour through Venice, at MNAR
The European Art Gallery becomes the starting point for a journey through Venetian painting from the 16th to 18th centuries. Cosmin Ungureanu, MNAR specialist, speaks about works attributed to artists such as Jacopo Tintoretto, Jacopo Bassano, Bonifazio de' Pitati, Bernardino Licinio, and Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini.

Jon Fosse, Read and Drawn Live in an Architect's House
One of the special Nordic Exposure events brings Nobel laureate Jon Fosse to the Ion Mincu Memorial House through a live reading and illustration performance. Actor Mihai Călin reads from "The Other Name", the first novel in "Septology", while artist Simina Popescu draws live.

Poetry Takes Over Bucharest for a Weekend
The Bucharest International Poetry Festival continues until Sunday, with readings, dialogues, performances, launches, and meetings with Romanian and international poets. On Saturday from 15:00, MNLR also hosts the gathering "Poetry as a Compass. On Finding a Common Language and Mutual Translation", with Sanna Hartnor and Alina Purcaru, part of Nordic Exposure and FIPB.

An Entire Neighbourhood Becomes a Festival: Discover Icoanei-Ioanid on Foot
The first edition of LOC Festival brings together over 70 activities and over 50 local businesses in Icoanei-Ioanid. Casa Vintilă Brătianu becomes one of the weekend's gathering points, with "The Little Readers' Circle" alongside Dana Rogoz and the CREION creative station. The neighbourhood also features tours, an architectural treasure hunt #Aiciastat, and a behind-the-scenes visit to Teatrul Țăndărică.

Bucharest Days: from Museums to Video Mapping, in a Pedestrianised City
Bucharest turns 567, and the anniversary programme stretches across the city. On Calea Victoriei we have Open Streets and "Battle of the Beats" in front of MNAR, where TOESUP and Denis Kablat transform the public's sounds into music. The City Hall building can be explored through free guided tours, the Triangle of Museums occupies the Kiseleff area, and Piața Constituției becomes in the evening the stage for iMapp Bucharest, with video mapping on the facade of the Palace of Parliament.

Bronze, Body and Nature in a New Exhibition at Mogoșoaia
Artist Florin Zhu opens the sculpture exhibition "To Grow is to Know" at Galeria Ghețărie. The bronze works trace the encounter between the human body and the plant element, in a dialogue built especially for the historic space at the Brâncovenești Palaces.

The National Archives Open Their Doors at the Weekend Too
A historic monument building and documents we don't encounter every day: the Bucharest Bible of 1688, the Proclamation of Islaz, the Act of Union of 1918, and royal journals. The Exhibition Space of the National Archives can now be visited on Saturdays and Sundays too, alongside the exhibitions "Nadia Comăneci. The Road to Perfection" and "George Enescu. The Memory of the Creator".
